Dear child of God, those who have not come to Jesus Christ may not know the joy of having Him as a friend, they may be held down by depression occasioned by grief and sadness, they may be held back by hopelessness occasioned by failures and mistakes, they may be made bitter by disappointments and rejection, they may be utterly disturbed and even discombobulated by the cares and anxieties of pressing obligations. Indeed, they may become afraid of what the future holds. BUT YOU, child of God, redeemed by the blood of Christ, YOU whom Christ has called his friend and brother, your own situation ought to be different.

Because, as long as you maintain friendship with Jesus, you will find Him the source and foundation of not just your life, but also of all the times of your life.

In John 15:5, our Lord made a proclamation that has more implications than we often ascribe to it: “I am the tree, you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit. Without me, you can do nothing.”

No wonder that those who are not in fellowship with Christ are held back and held down by sadness, sorrow, regrets, fear, hopelessness, bitterness and disappointments. Without Christ, they can do nothing about these things. But in Christ and through Christ, you can have victory over all these circumstances of life because your source and foundation is Jesus Christ Himself, the Lord of all and your friend who showers His blessings over and over.

So, I pray that your friend, our Lord Jesus Christ, will visit you today, touch you just where you need His touch, bring you precious gifts and fellowship with you. And oh that you will never let this fellowship end. For, in such unending fellowship, you will find that those who look to Him are always radiant, their faces are never put to shame. Ps. 34:5 and your testimony, without an iota of doubt, will be that:

Jesus is all the world to me,
My friend in trials sore;
I go to him for blessings, and
He gives them o’er and o’er:
He sends the sunshine and the rain,
He sends the harvest’s golden grain:
Sunshine and rain, harvest of grain,
He’s my friend.

May the joy of fellowship with Jesus be yours. May the grace of our Lord keep you in that friendship. May the sunshine, rain and harvest of grain from Jesus fall bountifully on you now and always. In Jesus name. Amen.
