WHICH IS LOUDER?

Sing it loudly, sing it softly: Jesus saves!

Tap the ‘play’ button to listen.

Dear Christian pilgrim, there are two sets of truth that exist in different columns in our lives. In one column, we have the following truths: 1. The reality of sin and its oppression; 2. The reality of our anxieties, cares, fears, needs and daunting obligations; and 3. The reality of human frailty and susceptibility to sicknesses, diseases and ultimately to death. All of these horrifying truths in one column.

But in the other column firmly stands one truth: JESUS SAVES.

And the question today is: which of these two columns is louder in your life? Which do you lift above the other? IS the truth of salvation through Christ so lifted high in your heart and in your affairs that it drowns out those pesky noise makers in the other column?

Have you discovered the joy of salvation through Jesus Christ? Then sing it louder than the battles in your life, make it stronger than the forces of gloomy sadness, and lift it triumphantly even over death.

Sing above the battle strife:
Jesus saves!
By His death and endless life,
Jesus saves!
Sing it softly through the gloom,
when the heart for mercy craves;
sing in triumph o’er the tomb:
Jesus saves.

So above the strife of battle, in the midst of gloomy sadness, in the face of threats of sickness and death, you must listen and hear and repeat louder and louder still the joyful sound of the voice of Jesus in John 16:33 saying, “be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

While passing through the howling wilderness of life, you must repeat louder and louder still the joyful sound of the assurance in Hebrews 13:6: “I will never leave you neither will I forsake you.”

And, what is more, you must listen and hear the Holy Spirit in Philippians 2:10 & 11. What He says there, you must repeat longer than any other, louder than any other, stronger than any other, and higher than all else: at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

So, dear redeemed believer:

Sing above the battle strife:
Jesus saves!
By His death and endless life,
Jesus saves!
Sing it softly through the gloom,
when the heart for mercy craves;
sing in triumph o’er the tomb:
Jesus saves!

LET US PRAY.

As you call out the name of Jesus in faith, may all your anxieties and fears be taken captive and made subject to the will of God for your life. In Jesus name. Amen.
