Dear Christian, If you are facing pressing cares today or overwhelmed by the day-to-day pressures of work and other commitments; if you are anxious about your long-standing desires and needs, please don’t just worry about them, don’t just think through them, don’t just reach out frantically for help here and there: Pray! Make all your wants and wishes known to the One who controls the whole world: Pray. Cast all your cares upon Him for He cares for you.

In this world of care, in this world of anxieties, in this uncertain world, those who go down on their knees in prayers will be lifted up by God’s victorious right hand and will be placed above the cares of this world.

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
that calls me from a world of care,
and bids me at my Father’s throne
make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
my soul has often found relief,
and oft escaped the tempter’s snare
by thy return, sweet hour of prayer! – W.W. Walford

Dear redeemed of the Lord, be encouraged by the testimonies of the Saints who have gone before. Consider, for example, the testimony of the Psalmist in Psalm 107: Revealing the secrets of those who have experienced the power of God to deliver, the Psalmist wrote in verses 5 and 6 of Psalm 107 as follows:

They were hungry and thirsty,
    and their lives ebbed away.

Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.

From verse 17, he wrote about those who became sick to the point of death and in then verses 19 and 20, He testified, saying:

Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and He saved them from their distress.

He sent out his word and healed them;
He rescued them from the grave.

On and on in Psalm 107, we read of the how the Lord lifted up those who went on their knees and cried out to Him in prayer; how He lifted them up and placed them above their earthly afflictions. So great was the deliverance that attended their prayers that they gave thanks and testified, saying: He has broken the gates of brass and cut the bars iron asunder.

If you will go down on your knees this and lay your burdens at His feet, He will lift you up from the place of prayer and will place you high above all that afflicts you in Jesus name.

Let us pray.

Lord, we thank You that we have the example of those who have gone before us; those who cried out to You in prayer and experienced Your great deliverance. Please teach us to follow in their footsteps; teach us to cast all of our cares on You. And when we have done so, please give us testimonies that will encourage and astound those coming behind us. In Jesus name, Amen.
