The joy of those who trust in Him is incomparable!

Be calm in your soul.

Good morning, dear people of God.

Many may be listening to this devotional with many vexing questions running through their minds. But whatever questions we are waking up to this morning, the Holy spirit is bringing to our remembrance, the example of the Psalmist in Psalm 132.

He wrote: Lord, my heart is not proud; my eyes are not haughty. I don’t concern myself with matters too great or too awesome for me to grasp. Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself, like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk. Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me. O Israel, put your hope in the Lord—now and always.

Dear people of God, like a child fed and satisfied in its mother’s arms, quiet, trusting, not fretting about the future or about matters that it cannot understand, like such a child, the Holy spirit invites you to trust in the Lord.

And this same message is brough to us in this hymn, Trusting Jesus.

Simply trusting every day,
Trusting through a stormy way;
Even when my faith is small,
Trusting Jesus, that is all.

Refrain:
Trusting as the moments fly,
Trusting as the days go by;
Trusting Him whate’er befall,
Trusting Jesus, that is all. – Edgar Page

And yes, we all must listen and hear the voice of the Lord that the Apostle Paul heard in 2 Cor. 12:9. Yes, we must hear the Lord saying to us: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

And, having heard that voice, like Paul, we ought by faith say, “That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”You see, His grace is sufficient and,

Brightly doth His Spirit shine,
Into this poor heart of mine;
While He leads, I cannot fall;
Trusting Jesus, that is all.

Dear beloved of God, follow in the footsteps of saints who have placed total trust in God through Jesus Christ. Hear the Psalmist saying to you over and over again: ‘Blessed is the one who puts his trust in God. Blessed is the one who puts her trust in God. (Ps. 84:12). Read Psalm 48, and you will find that those who, through Jesus Christ, have gained access to God and have placed their trust in God, will find God as a sure place of refuge in troubled times, will be secure and safe from all alarms in this world and the next, and, having experienced the blessedness of those who trust in God, will tell of it to the next generation, saying: “This God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end.

Trusting Him while life shall last,
Trusting Him till earth be past;
Till within the jasper wall,
Trusting Jesus, that is all.

Let us pray.

Lord, we lift our eyes, not to the hills, not to the government, not to our bank accounts, not to our doctors, not to our parents, and not to any human person. We lift up our eyes to You and You alone for, from You comes our help. Please send help to us from Zion and watch over our coming and going both now and forever more. In Jesus name. Amen.
