Welcome to Word of the Day on GospelBells Radio. Today, the word under the spotlight is, “Simpatico.”
(Continue reading or listen as presented on the radio by Dewunmi Afolabi-Ajani)
Simpatico means being likeminded, in harmony, or having an easy bond of understanding with someone. When two people are simpatico, they share a connection that feels natural and aligned.
Scripture often calls believers to live simpatico with one another. Romans 12:16 says, “Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.” And in Philippians 2:2, Paul urges, “Make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.” The church flourishes when Christians are simpatico—united in Christ, working together in love and humility.
But more than with one another, we are called to be simpatico with Christ Himself. Amos 3:3 asks, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” True simpatico with Jesus means aligning our hearts with His will, walking in step with His Spirit, and loving what He loves.
