Only God truly acts in perpetuity. Scripture tells us, “From everlasting to everlasting, You are God” (Ps. 90:2). His covenant love endures forever (Ps. 136), and His Word stands firm when all else passes away (Isa. 40:8). Christ Himself promises eternal life—a salvation secured not for a season, but for perpetuity (John 10:28).
Perpetuity comforts the believer because it anchors us in what cannot be shaken. While our lives feel fleeting—“a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes” (James 4:14)—we belong to an eternal kingdom. Through Christ’s death and resurrection, we are given an inheritance that Peter calls “imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you” (1 Pet. 1:4).
