Today, the word under the spotlight is “Inheritance.”.
Inheritance refers to what is received as a rightful possession, often passed on by a father to his children. In simple terms, it is what belongs to you not because you earned it, but because you belong.
In Scripture, inheritance is one of the most comforting images of salvation. Ephesians 1:11 tells us, “In Him we have obtained an inheritance,” and 1 Peter 1:4 describes it as “an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.” Unlike earthly inheritances that can be lost, disputed, or depleted, God’s inheritance for His children is secure and eternal.
Inheritance reminds us that the Christian life is not driven by fear or scarcity. We are not spiritual beggars hoping for mercy; we are sons and daughters with a promised future. Because we are adopted into God’s family, we are heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17). What awaits us is not only heaven, but full participation in God’s restored creation, His glory, and His everlasting presence.
This truth reshapes how we live today. When you know what is coming, you can endure hardship, resist sin, and live generously. The promise of inheritance anchors our hope beyond this world.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the inheritance You have prepared for me in Christ. Help me live today with eternity in view, confident in what You have promised and grateful for Your grace. Amen.
Now, let’s put this word into action. Can you make a Christian-themed sentence using inheritance?
Here’s mine: “Because my inheritance is secure in Christ, I don’t have to cling tightly to the things of this world.”
Now it’s your turn — share your sentence in the comments.
Thank you for listening. I’m Dewunmi Afolabi-Ajani for GospelBells Radio.
