Welcome to Word of the Day on GospelBells Radio.
Today, the word under the spotlight is “Memorialism.”

Memorialism is a view of the Lord’s Supper that emphasizes remembrance. It teaches that the bread and wine do not change into Christ’s body and blood, nor do they convey grace by themselves, but rather serve as symbols — sacred reminders of what Jesus accomplished on the cross.
When Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of Me” (Luke 22:19), He invited His followers to remember — not merely as a mental exercise, but as a spiritual act of gratitude and faith. In the Lord’s Supper, believers look back to Christ’s sacrifice, look within to renew repentance and faith, and look forward to His coming again.
This view, often associated with reformers like Ulrich Zwingli, guards against superstition by centering the Supper on Christ’s finished work and the believer’s active faith. Yet, it also calls us to approach the table with reverence — for though the bread and cup are symbols, the reality they point to is profoundly holy.
Every time we eat the bread and drink the cup, we proclaim: “Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.”
The table is not about mystical transformation, but a memorial of divine love — a visible sermon of the gospel.

Follow us on XPrayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for giving us the Supper as a lasting memorial of Your sacrifice. Each time I come to the table, help me remember not only what You did, but what it means for me today — forgiveness, grace, and hope. Amen.
Now, let’s put this word into action. Can you make a Christian-themed sentence using the word Memorialism?
Here’s mine: “Memorialism reminds me that every communion cup lifts my eyes to the cross and fills my heart with gratitude.”
Now it’s your turn — share your sentence in the comments on our GospelBells Radio website or X page. We’ll be looking out for it!
Remember: The Lord’s Table is more than ritual — it’s a living remembrance of the Redeemer’s love.
