Welcome to Word of the Day on GospelBells Radio.
Today, the word under the spotlight is “Federal Headship.”
(Continue reading or listen as presented on the radio by Dewunmi Afolabi-Ajani)
Federal Headship refers to a biblical principle in which one person acts as the representative of many — so that the actions of that one affect all who are connected to him.
In Scripture, there are two great “heads” of humanity. Adam, the first man, represents the human race in sin; and Christ, the second Adam, represents His people in righteousness. As Romans 5:19 puts it, “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.”
Through Adam’s fall, sin and death entered the world, spreading to all. But through Christ’s obedience — His perfect life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection — grace and life are given to all who belong to Him. Adam brought condemnation; Christ brings justification.
This doctrine humbles us, reminding us that we cannot stand before God on our own merits. But it also fills us with joy, because our acceptance before God depends not on our performance, but on our Head — Jesus Christ. When God looks upon believers, He sees them clothed in the righteousness of His Son.

Subscribe NowNow, let’s put this word into action. Can you make a Christian-themed sentence using the phrase Federal Headship?
Here’s mine: “Because of Christ’s Federal Headship, I stand before God not in Adam’s guilt, but in Christ’s righteousness.”
Now it’s your turn — share your sentence in the comments on our GospelBells Radio website or X page. We’ll be looking out for it!
Remember: In Adam, we fell; in Christ, we rise — and in Him, we are made new.
