Today, the word under the spotlight is “Deliverance.”
Deliverance refers to God’s act of rescuing His people from danger, bondage, or oppression.
In simple terms, it means God stepping in to save when we cannot save ourselves.
Throughout Scripture, deliverance is a defining mark of God’s relationship with His people. In Exodus 14, God delivered Israel from slavery by parting the Red Sea. The psalmist testifies in Psalm 34:19, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” In the New Testament, deliverance reaches its fullest meaning in Christ, who “has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son”(Colossians 1:13).
Deliverance reminds us that salvation is not self-rescue. It is grace. Whether the chains are visible or hidden — sin, fear, guilt, or despair — God is a Deliverer who acts with power and compassion. His deliverance may not always come in the way we expect, but it always comes in the way that is best.
This word gives hope to the weary and courage to the trapped. The same God who delivered before still delivers today — sometimes instantly, sometimes gradually, but always faithfully.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being my Deliverer. Rescue me from what binds me, strengthen me where I am weak, and help me trust Your saving power in every season. Amen.
Now, let’s put this word into action. Can you make a Christian-themed sentence using deliverance?
Here’s mine: “My story is one of deliverance — not by my strength, but by God’s mercy.”
Now it’s your turn — share your sentence in the comments.
