To debunk is to expose the falseness or hollowness of a myth, idea, or belief.
In everyday usage, when you debunk something, you prove that it is not true or reveal its emptiness.
One of the blessings of Scripture is its power to debunk lies. The devil often whispers falsehoods—“God has forsaken you,” “Your sins are too great,” or “There is no hope for tomorrow.” But God’s Word shines light on these lies, exposing them and replacing them with truth. For instance, when Satan tempted Jesus, He debunked each lie with, “It is written…” (Matthew 4:4–10). When we cling to God’s promises, we too can debunk the deceits that seek to draw us away from faith, hope, and love.

Lord, thank You for the truth that sets us free. Help us to recognize and debunk every lie of the enemy with the power of Your Word. May our hearts be filled with light, not darkness, and with faith, not fear. Amen.
Now, let’s do an exercise. Can you make a Christian-themed sentence with the word, “Debunk?” I’ll go first: “Jesus came to debunk the lie that death has the final say.” Now, make your own Christian-themed sentence with the word, Debunk in the comments section.
