Today, the word under the spotlight is “Consecration.”

Consecration means being set apart for God’s use. In simple terms, it is the intentional act of dedicating oneself wholly to God — heart, mind, body, and purpose.

In Scripture, consecration often precedes divine action. In Joshua 3:5, Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.” Consecration is not about becoming perfect before God acts; it is about positioning ourselves in obedience and surrender. Romans 12:1 echoes this call when Paul urges believers to “present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God.”

Consecration reminds us that the Christian life is not casual. It is a life deliberately offered back to the God who redeemed us. To be consecrated is to say, “Lord, my life is no longer my own.” It means aligning our desires, decisions, and direction with God’s will, trusting that what we give to Him, He uses for His glory.

This word is especially fitting for new seasons. New beginnings call not just for new plans, but for renewed surrender. Consecration clears space for God’s purposes to unfold.

Prayer:
Lord, I consecrate myself to You afresh today. Set me apart for Your will, purify my heart, and use my life for Your glory. Amen.

Now, let’s put this word into action. Can you make a Christian-themed sentence using consecration?
Here’s mine: “True consecration begins when I place every part of my life in God’s hands.”

Now it’s your turn — share your sentence in the comments.

Thank you for listening. I’m Dewunmi Afolabi-Ajani for GospelBells Radio.
