Today, the word under the spotlight is “Assurance.”
Assurance refers to the confident certainty that believers have regarding their salvation and standing with God.
In simple terms, it means knowing, without doubt, that you belong to God and that His promises are true for you.
Scripture grounds assurance not in our feelings, but in God’s faithfulness. 1 John 5:13 says, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” Paul echoes this confidence in Romans 8:16, where he writes that “the Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.”
Assurance does not mean a life without struggles or questions. Rather, it is a settled trust that even in weakness, God’s grace holds us fast. It steadies us in trials, strengthens us against temptation, and frees us to serve God not out of fear, but out of love and gratitude.
This assurance produces joy, endurance, and peace. When we are assured of God’s love, we no longer strive to earn His favor — we live from the security of having already received it.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the assurance that comes from Your Word and Your Spirit. Help me rest in Your promises, walk in confidence, and live faithfully as Your beloved child. Amen.
Now, let’s put this word into action. Can you make a Christian-themed sentence using assurance?
Here’s mine: “My assurance rests not in what I have done for God, but in what Christ has done for me.”
Now it’s your turn — share your sentence in the comments.
Thank you for listening. I’m Dewunmi Afolabi-Ajani for GospelBells Radio.
