WELLS IN THE VALLEY
This verse reminds us that the comfort one believer receives can often bless many others. Just as a well dug by one pilgrim refreshes those who follow, so the lessons of grace drawn in sorrow become a source of life to others walking the same path. We often read a book full of consolation—like Night of Weeping, Midnight Harmonies, or even the Psalms themselves—and discover that another saint has already dug a well there, leaving behind encouragement for us. How precious it is to find the footprints of fellow pilgrims in the barren places of life!
Yet notice this: though pilgrims dig the wells, the water comes not from the ground but from heaven. The wells fill because God sends the rain. We may prepare and labour, but the blessing flows from Him alone. We dig, but He pours. As Scripture says, “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but victory belongs to the Lord.” Our efforts are not wasted, but they are powerless without the smile of heaven.

Subscribe NowGrace is like rain—pure, refreshing, life-giving, sovereignly given, and entirely from above. Without it, our wells and pools remain dry, our ordinances empty, our efforts barren. But when God opens the windows of heaven, even our weak labours become reservoirs of blessing, overflowing for ourselves and others.
May the Lord grant us showers of blessing, and may every well we dig in faith be filled with His living water—so that those who come after us may drink deeply and give glory to God.
✨ Reflection Takeaway:
We dig in faith, but God fills in grace. Our sorrows and struggles may become wells of refreshment for others when heaven rains down blessing.
