When Moses sang at the Red Sea, his joy was this: all Israel was safe. Not a single drop of water fell from those towering walls until the very last of God’s people had stepped securely onto the far shore. Only then did the waters return to their place. Part of Moses’ song declared, “You in Your mercy have led forth the people whom You have redeemed.”
So it shall be in the final day. When the redeemed sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, this will be the triumph of Jesus Himself: “Of all whom You have given Me, I have lost none.” In heaven there will be no empty thrones.
“For all the chosen race
Shall meet around the throne,
Shall bless the conduct of His grace,
And make His glories known.”
Everyone the Father has chosen, everyone the Son has redeemed, everyone the Spirit has called, and everyone who truly believes in Jesus Christ shall cross safely through the dividing sea. Not one will be missing.
Yet we are not all across just now:
“Part of the host have crossed the flood,
And part are crossing now.”
The front ranks of the army have already reached the shore. We are still passing through the depths, following closely after our great Leader into the very heart of the sea. Let us take courage. The rear guard will soon stand where the vanguard already rejoices. The final one of God’s chosen people will cross safely, and then the song of victory will rise in full strength—when all are secure.
But imagine, if it were otherwise—if even one of God’s chosen family were lost. Such a loss would introduce a discord into the song of the redeemed and silence the harps of heaven forever. Thanks be to God, this can never be. Christ will lose none. Every one redeemed by His blood shall surely be brought home.
