ON THE LORD’S SIDE Podcast | May 25 2026

The following are the views expressed by Olufemi Oguntokun in the May 25, 2026’s episode of the On the Lord’s Side Podcast – Christian perspectives on news and current events.

ON THE WORK FROM HOME OUTFIT DAY CONTROVERSY

Good morning to you once again. It is Monday the 25th of May 2026, and we are on the Lord’s side.

I want to begin by engaging with stories that show us where the culture is headed in Nigeria and many parts of the world. The first is the now-viral video of a woman who showed up at work wearing only a wrapper during her company’s “work from home outfit day.”

Let me be clear: I am not dumping on the lady who took the instruction literally. She simply did what the HR department asked. The real issue is with the people who came up with the idea in the first place. Come to the office dressed as if you are working from home? Make it make sense.

When you work from home, you are in the comfort of your house. You are not expecting to see your boss or colleagues. Many people dress casually — some in pajamas, some in wrappers. But when you come into the office, there is a standard of decency and professionalism expected. Blending the two created exactly the kind of absurdity we saw: a lady arriving in a wrapper tied around her chest, leaving everyone shocked.

Some will say it is just harmless fun, a way to reduce stress and make work enjoyable. But there are deeper issues here. These seemingly small ideas subtly change the culture. They normalize things that should not be normalized. One company does it, the video goes viral, and before you know it, other HR departments are copying the idea. Social media accelerates it. What starts as “just fun” easily slides further.

ON THE TREND OF NAKED PRIVATE CHEFS

Another story making the rounds is even more troubling. Popular Nigerian chef Tolani Taiwo Oshikoya, known as Chef T, called out female colleagues who dress naked — or provocatively close to it — while marketing themselves as private chefs.

These are not permanent household cooks of old. These are people offering services on demand. Some now create promotional videos where they are barely dressed, using their bodies to gain attention and attract clients. The implication is clear: many are not just selling food; they are selling sensuality as an added incentive.

Chef T is right to sound the alarm. This is not dignity in labour. It is the commodification of the body. And once again, we see how the culture rewards and normalizes what should be condemned. When people defend it as “just marketing,” they miss the point. We are sliding down the slippery slope.

ON THE CHIKE ADULTERY SCANDAL AND CELEBRATION OF SIN

Then we have the story of singer Chike and his involvement in an adulterous relationship with a married woman. The details are sordid. Voice notes have emerged showing no remorse. Instead of shame and consequences, we saw videos of ladies rushing to take photos with him at a cinema, treating him like a hero.

This is what is most disheartening: the open celebration of home-wrecking. A Delta State Governor’s aide rightly called it “a disgusting celebration of home wrecking.” Yet many are cheering him on. This tells us how far the morality of the culture has shifted.

From a Christian perspective, these stories — the wrapper at work, the provocatively dressed chefs, and the celebration of adultery — all point to the same reality: the normalization of immodesty and sexual immorality. It is a slippery slope. What begins as “harmless fun” or “just marketing” or “personal choice” gradually erodes standards of decency and holiness.

We who are on the Lord’s side must remember Paul’s charge: “Come out from among them and be separate.” Our Lord Jesus Christ said it plainly: “But with you, it should not be so.” The world may do these things. The sons of this age may celebrate them. But with us, it should not be so.

We are called to walk circumspectly, to anticipate where these trends lead, and to maintain holiness in the midst of a sensual culture. May the Lord give us courage to stand distinct and to speak truthfully even when the culture cheers the opposite.
