On Christian Digital Flyers and the Disappearance of Jesus

Good morning to you once again. It’s Tuesday, the 24th of March, 2026. The program is On the Lord’s Side: Christian Perspectives on News and Current Events. My name is Olufemi Oguntokun. You can follow me on X at Olufemi OG. You can follow Gospel Bells Radio on X at Gospel Bells Radio.

Well, you know that it’s the age of the media, the age of the ubiquity of media, of photos and posters and videos. I mean, what’s an event without a digital flyer announcing the event? What’s an event without a digital flyer or video announcing the event, promoting the event even? And everybody does it. Businesses do it. Individuals do it. And churches do it as well.

And for a while now, one of the things that people have noticed about Christian flyers, Christian posters, advertisements by churches, is the disappearance, the disappearance of Jesus. Because at the name of Jesus, for most of those flyers, most of those advertisements, most of those promotional materials, you find that and this is not something that has been empirically verified, but if you just look around, you can find it.

A digital flyer that has his picture emblazoned on it and his name announcing a program, and what is this program all about? It says Satan.

I mean, it’s not every time that you find the name of Satan on a digital flyer by a church or by a preacher or on a billboard, but here the most prominent name on this flyer is Satan, and with a rider: the same yesterday, today and forever.

So I think you can understand why many people would find this offensive, why this became a topic of discussion on social media, why this digital flyer went viral, not only because Satan, the name Satan, was given prominence on it, but also because of the tagline. That tagline: the same yesterday, today and forever.

Now, the reason why anybody would raise an eyebrow after reading that tagline is because that tagline is from the Bible, from Hebrews 13:8. And of course, the same yesterday, today and forever has always been used to describe the person and power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. But in this case, on this digital flyer, we find it used to describe Satan.

So Pastor put his name and his picture to a digital flyer that says Satan, the same yesterday, today and forever, announcing a program on Sunday, March 15th, 8 p.m. West African time, and giving times for other regions of the world.

And I’m asking myself, why would somebody do something like this?

If you want to rush to his defense, you say, of course, you must have an idea of what he’s trying to say. He just wants to catch your attention. And that’s the point exactly—he just wants to catch your attention. And then using that tagline, he wanted to invite some bit of controversy.

And this brings me back to something that we’ve always emphasized on this program, and that’s the importance of reflecting on the real reasons why we do the things that we do.

I’ve said this about publicity over and over again, that the mindset among media professionals is that what you need above all else is to be known, to be popular, to set yourself apart from the noise. And there’s so much noise in the digital space today. For your content and your views to gain traction, there must be something to it.

The conventional wisdom is that it does not matter whether what you are doing is negatively perceived or not. The important thing is that people are talking about you. Many in the entertainment industry know this, that every publicity is good publicity.

But I do not think that those of us who are on the Lord’s side should be like that.

We are not going to adopt worldly methods to promote our Lord. The way to promote Him is to proclaim His truth and to pray that He will bless His Word.

There is also this ongoing theological debate, whether we should be preaching Christ or warning people about Satan. Yes, the Bible warns us about the devil, but when we gather, we come to worship Christ. We come to exalt Him.

I do not want to see Christian digital flyers making Satan the center of attention.

And beyond all of this, the most important point is this: it is not true to say that Satan is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The yesterday, yes. The today, perhaps. But the forever, no.

The Bible teaches that Satan will be destroyed. That expression belongs only to Jesus Christ.

On the Death of Leonid Radvinsky and the Question of Legacy

Now, let us go to this story of Leonid Radvinsky. Unfortunately, a sad story. This man has died after battling cancer at the age of just 43.

What is he known for? He is known to have been the majority owner of OnlyFans.

OnlyFans is that platform that has become synonymous with pornography. It allows individuals to charge subscribers for access to explicit content.

According to reports, he held about a 70–75% stake in the platform. It generated revenues in excess of $6.6 billion, with him earning hundreds of millions in dividends annually.

Now think about this: a man dies at 43, and the first line of his obituary reads that he was the owner of a platform credited with revolutionizing the online porn industry.

A Christian should be concerned about how they will be remembered.

“Only remembered by what we have done.”

Do you want to be remembered for that?

Yes, it was profitable. Extremely profitable. But for those of us on the Lord’s side, the starting point is not, is this profitable? The starting point is, is this godly?

Even though he gave to charity and supported causes, the question remains: what kind of legacy does that life leave behind?

Your life does not consist in the abundance of the things you own.

On Chuck Norris and a Life of Faith

Now, this takes us to another obituary, Chuck Norris.

If you grew up in the 80s, 90s, or early 2000s, you must know Chuck Norris. He was born Carlos Ray Norris and became a martial arts expert and Hollywood action star.

He starred in films like Missing in Action, Invasion USA, and Delta Force. He also headlined Walker, Texas Ranger for eight seasons.

But beyond all of that, he was a devout Christian.

His faith shaped his life. He spoke openly about his relationship with Jesus Christ. He credited his faith for his strength, peace, and purpose. He used his platform to promote moral values and a personal relationship with Christ.

And it is striking that we reflect on his life immediately after reflecting on the life of Leonid Radvinsky.

On the one hand, a man who remained steadfast in Christ. On the other hand, a man remembered for a platform that spread sin.

At the end of the day, what defines a life is whether it was spent in the service of Christ.

All the wealth, all the fame, at the point of death, mean nothing.

What matters is whether Christ welcomes you.

The life of a man does not consist in the abundance of the things he owns.
