“And of His fullness we have all received.” – John 1:16

These words declare that there is a fullness in Christ. There is the fullness of essential Deity, for “in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” There is the fullness of perfect humanity, because that divine fullness was revealed in Him in bodily form. There is the fullness of atoning power in His blood, for “the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” There is the fullness of justifying righteousness in His life, for “there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.”

There is the fullness of prevailing power in His intercession, for “He is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” There is the fullness of victory in His death, for through death He destroyed the one who had the power of death—that is, the devil. There is the fullness of life-giving power in His resurrection, for by it “we have been begotten again to a living hope.” There is the fullness of triumph in His ascension, for “when He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.”

In Christ there is a fullness of every blessing—grace to pardon, grace to regenerate, grace to sanctify, grace to preserve, and grace to perfect. There is fullness for every season: fullness of comfort in affliction, and fullness of guidance in times of prosperity. There is fullness of every divine attribute—wisdom, power, and love—a fullness so vast it cannot be measured, much less exhausted. “It pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell.”

Oh, what a fullness this must be, if all receive from it! The stream flows continually, yet the fountain remains as rich, as free, and as full as ever. Come, believer, and have every need supplied. Ask largely, and you will receive largely, for this fullness is inexhaustible. It is stored where every needy soul may reach it—in Jesus, Immanuel, God with us.
