This morning, let us hear the Lord Jesus speaking personally to each of us: “I will help you.”
“It is no great thing for Me, your God, to help you. Think of what I have already done. Would I not help you? I bought you with My own blood. Would I not help you? I died for you. If I have done the greater thing, will I not also do the lesser? Helping you is the smallest thing I will ever do for you. I have already done far more—and I will do far more still.
Before the world began, I chose you. I made a covenant for you. I laid aside My glory and became a man for you. I gave up My life for you. And having done all this, I will surely help you now. When I help you, I am simply giving you what I have already purchased for you.
Even if you needed a thousand times more help than you do now, I would gladly give it. What you require is very little compared with what I am ready to supply. It is much for you to need—but it is nothing for Me to give.
‘Help you?’ Do not be afraid. If a tiny ant stood at the door of your storehouse asking for food, it would not impoverish you to give it a handful of grain. And you are no more than a small creature standing at the door of My all-sufficiency. I will help you.”
O my soul, is this not enough? Do you need more strength than the omnipotence of the Triune God? Do you need more wisdom than the Father possesses, more love than is revealed in the Son, or more power than the Holy Spirit supplies? Bring your empty vessel here—this well will surely fill it.
Gather all your needs and bring them—your emptiness, your sorrows, your weaknesses. The river of God is full, overflowing for your supply. What more could you possibly desire? Go forward, my soul, in this strength: the eternal God is your helper.
“Fear not, I am with you; be not dismayed,
I am your God, and I will still help you.”
