The story is told of a bedridden man who asked his family to place an empty chair right beside his bed. When people asked why, he would smile and say, “It helps me remember that Jesus is here with me, just as He promised. I talk to Him as though He’s sitting right there.”

One day, the man passed away. When his loved ones entered the room, they found him leaning over the chair, his head resting where a friend might have been. To them, it was as if he had gone home resting on Christ Himself.

This story brings to life the Lord’s promise in Matthew 28:20: “Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

For the believer, Christ is never far away. He is the unseen Friend in the room, the silent Comforter in the night, the faithful Presence who never leaves.
