In today’s episode of On The Lord’s Side, we reflect on human frailty, leadership, and the necessity of wisdom in a world where evil is real and often subtle.
A widely circulated video of a national leader stumbling during an official visit abroad prompted global commentary. While many responded with mockery or political scoring, we pause to ask deeper questions. Why do public falls, whether physical or figurative, capture so much attention? And how easily can a single moment eclipse years of responsibility, policy, and service?
From there, we consider what fitness for leadership truly means. When does perseverance become pride? When does integrity require stepping aside? Scripture reminds us that God is able to keep His people from stumbling, yet it also calls leaders to humility and sober self-assessment.
The conversation then turns to disturbing revelations surrounding global power structures and exploitation, reminding us that evil is not always loud. It is often organised, protected, and disguised. Yet even in darkness, Christ remains present, near to the vulnerable, attentive to the cry of the oppressed.
We also reflect on a tragic family incident shaped by political division and substance abuse. In a polarised age, how do we guard our relationships from becoming casualties of ideology? Politics is consequential, but it is never eternal. Character, self-control, and love endure beyond administrations and headlines.
Across each story runs a single thread:
The world is fallen.
Human beings are fragile.
And wisdom is not optional for believers.
Jesus instructed His followers to be wise as serpents and gentle as doves. Not cynical. Not naïve. But spiritually alert.
We pray for leaders.
We pray for victims of injustice.
We pray for ourselves, that we would not stumble morally, spiritually, or publicly.
Remain discerning.
Remain anchored.
Remain on the Lord’s side.
