Today, the word under the spotlight is “Remembrance.”
Remembrance refers to the intentional act of calling to mind what God has done — and allowing that memory to shape how we live today.
In simple terms, it means remembering God’s works so that faith is strengthened and hearts remain anchored in truth.
In Scripture, remembrance is never passive. God repeatedly commands His people to remember, because forgetting leads to fear, pride, and unbelief. In Deuteronomy 8:2, Israel is told to remember how the Lord led them through the wilderness. In the New Testament, Jesus gives remembrance a sacred center when He says, “Do this in remembrance of Me” (Luke 22:19). Here, remembrance is not mere recall; it is faith renewed by reflecting on Christ’s sacrifice.
Remembrance teaches us that the Christian life is sustained by memory sanctified by truth. When we remember God’s faithfulness in the past, we find courage for the present and hope for the future. It reminds us that our faith rests on what God has already accomplished, not on shifting circumstances.
To remember rightly is to resist despair and to rehearse grace. It is to say, “God has been faithful before — and He will be faithful again.”
Prayer:
Lord, help me to remember Your goodness and never forget Your mighty works. Let holy remembrance strengthen my faith and steady my heart in every season. Amen.
Now, let’s put this word into action. Can you make a Christian-themed sentence using remembrance?
Here’s mine: “Remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice keeps my faith grounded and my hope alive.”
Now it’s your turn — share your sentence in the comments.
Thank you for listening. I’m Dewunmi Afolabi-Ajani for GospelBells Radio.
