ALL CAME TO PASS

The word HE has spoken will surely prevail!

Dear Christian Pilgrim,

Do you know someone whose word is so reliable that you can rest assured what they say will be done? Now, consider this: in the case of the Lord God Almighty, not only is what He says done, but nothing, no one, no circumstance, and no power can prevent His spoken word from coming to pass.

No one is more committed to honoring their word than the Lord God Almighty. No one can remove barriers, break protocols, and mobilize resources, things, and people in this world to uphold their word like Him. In Isaiah 43:4, He assured His people, “Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.” This attribute led the psalmist in chapter 138:2 to worship, saying, “I will bow down toward your holy temple and praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness. You have exalted your word above all.” In the New Living Translation, it’s said that “your promises are backed by all the honor of your name,” and in the New King James Version: “You have magnified Your word above all Your name.”

The sooner a Christian wholeheartedly believes that the word He has spoken will surely prevail, the quicker they will experience the calm assurance and peace that distinguishes Christians in times of trouble.

Yet, because God’s ways are beyond our understanding, and His promises often speak of greatness not yet seen, the words He has spoken might seem unbelievable, impossible, or implausible! This is why He repeats His promises and assurances to His people over and over again.

He solemnly promised Abraham, reiterated it to Isaac, and confirmed it to Jacob in the third generation. But fulfillment came only in the days of Joshua when, reflecting on the honor of the word He had spoken, it was recorded in Joshua 21:45 that, “Not one word of all the good promises that the LORD had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass.” All came to pass. ALL CAME TO PASS.

Listen, what Balaam, the seer, proclaimed is the truth: “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” (Numbers 23:19). He has placed the honor of His name behind His word, and the word He has spoken will surely prevail. Isaiah 45:19 states: “I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob’s descendants, ‘Seek me in vain.’ I, the LORD, speak the truth; I declare what is right.”

Today, I encourage you to remember your Lord’s promises and affirm by faith:

 Though dark be my way,
Since he is my guide,
‘Tis mine to obey,
‘Tis his to provide;
Though cisterns be broken
And creatures all fail,
The word he has spoken
Will surely prevail.

Let us pray.

Dear Almighty God,

I believe that Your promises are backed by the unblemished honour of Your name. For the sake of the glory of Your name, please move the earth and the heavens and break all barriers to bring all Your good promises to pass in my life.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen!
