It was a village parched by drought.
The riverbeds had cracked open, the wells had dried up, and the crops had withered. Every day, people looked up at the sky, hoping to see even a single cloud—but the heavens stayed silent.
Finally, the pastor announced:
“Tomorrow evening, we will gather in the village square to pray for rain. Everyone—come and seek the Lord together.”
And the next day, as the sun began to sink behind the hills, the villagers came—farmers, mothers, children, elders—all dressed in their finest clothes. They sang, they prayed, and they cried out to God for rain.
But in the crowd, one small detail stood out—so small, it almost went unnoticed.
Among hundreds of faces turned upward, only one little girl had brought… an umbrella.
As others bowed their heads in solemn prayer, she sat quietly on a rock, clutching her umbrella, smiling. When asked why she brought it, she simply said,
“We’re praying for rain, aren’t we?”
That evening, as they prayed, the wind changed. Clouds gathered over the horizon.
And before the crowd could rise from their knees, the first drops began to fall—slow, steady, then strong—until the village square was filled with laughter, dancing, and tears of joy.
The little girl just opened her umbrella.
