Netflix’s Casting Trick: Could This Claim Be True? Should Christians Care?

  • by

A viral screenshot making the rounds on X claims that nearly every recent movie on the Netflix follows a predictable script—not for storytelling’s sake, but to push a specific agenda: White men as villains? Check. Black men as heroes? Check. Gay characters as the voice of reason, women “with the balls,” dads as idiots, moms as breadwinners, and children sexualized? Double check. The kicker: “Netflix is social engineering, not entertainment.” Chilling, right?

If true, this isn’t just lazy casting—it’s a calculated “trick” to normalize narratives that undermine God’s design for family, gender, and morality.

Have you spotted this casting trend in the screenshot—or felt its pull in shows your family watches?

This bombshell hits even harder amid today’s explosive #CancelNetflix campaign on X, kicked off by Elon Musk himself. In a post racking up over 13 million views, Musk blasted Netflix for “deliberately choosing to pay people to create sexualized content for children,” calling it “PAID speech” that demands a wallet hit: “Raise your hand if you resent Netflix.”

A US Senator, Mike Lee, fired back in the replies: “Millions of people are paying money to a company that wants to groom their children.” And another user, Just Jen Rx, nailed the slippery slope: “They tested the waters with ‘Cuties,’ and when more people ignored that, it was full steam ahead!”

The thread is on fire, spotlighting kids’ shows like “Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City” featuring a transgender “TransBerry” character and drag queen vibes, or “Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous” slipping in lesbian kissing scenes—all under the radar of “family fun.”

But let’s zoom out to the bigger picture: These aren’t isolated plots; they’re media narratives crafting our worldview, one binge-watch at a time. What starts as “entertainment” seeps into beliefs, eroding biblical truths on creation, roles, and purity.

As Christians, we’re urged to walk wisely: “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15-16, KJV). We must stay alert to Satan’s schemes: “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Corinthians 2:11, KJV). And above all, guard our minds: “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5, KJV).

We’re all in this together: How can believers shield our homes from these ungodly influences? Family viewing guidelines? Prayerful media audits? Championing Christ-centered creators? Share your wisdom in the comments—let’s equip one another to stand firm!
