Did you know there’s a powerful analogy about twins in the womb that helps us understand faith in eternal life?

The story goes like this: Two babies are talking inside their mother’s womb. One says, “I believe there’s life after birth! A place where we’ll walk, run, and see light with our eyes.” The other replies, “That’s impossible. This darkness is all there is. Birth means the end.”

The first insists, “No, I think we’ll meet our mother face to face. She’s caring for us even though we cannot see her.” The second laughs, “Mother? I’ve never seen her. She doesn’t exist.”

But then — birth happens. And suddenly, what seemed like the end is actually the beginning of a new, greater life.

This simple analogy mirrors the words of Scripture: “For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face.” (1 Corinthians 13:12). Just as birth is not the end for a baby, death is not the end for a believer. It is the gateway into eternal life with Christ.

So when doubts arise about heaven or life after death, remember the womb: unseen realities can be more real than what we now experience. As 2 Corinthians 5:7 reminds us, “We walk by faith, not by sight.”
