THE REAL DANGER

At first this rule seems strange, but it carried wisdom. If leprosy had fully broken out over the whole body, it showed that the disease had come to the surface and the person’s constitution was still sound.

There is a spiritual picture here. We too are lepers—sinners through and through. When a person finally sees themselves as entirely lost, ruined, and polluted by sin—when they stop pretending to have any righteousness of their own and confess themselves guilty before God—that is the very moment they are made clean by the blood of Jesus and the grace of God.

The real danger is hidden sin: sin ignored, excused, or unconfessed. But when sin is fully exposed, felt, and mourned, it has already received its death wound. Nothing is more deadly than self-righteousness, and nothing is more hopeful than true repentance.

If the Spirit has opened your eyes to see that you are “nothing but sin,” don’t despair. That very confession is the pathway to mercy. However dark or foul your sin may be, it will never shut you out from Christ. He has promised: “The one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.”

So come to Him—just as you are. Whether you are dishonest like the thief, unclean like the sinful woman, violent like Saul, cruel like Manasseh, or rebellious like the prodigal—Christ will receive you when you trust in His cross.

Come needy. Come guilty. Come broken and bare.

You cannot be too filthy—only come as you are.
