THE MOST URGENT QUESTION OF EASTER – (2021 Easter Ed. (No. 2) of Pilgrim’s Joy Devotional)

Inspired by the hymn, I Gave my Life for Thee. Please listen below.

So, our hymn for meditation this morning, asks what I call the urgent questions of Easter; it’s a question in the voice of our Lord, saying: I gave my life for Thee, What has Thou given for me?

A perfume worth a yer’s wages was not too expensive to show appreciation to Christ for brining back Mary’s brother, Lazarus, from the dead and nothing, absolutely nothing could be too much, too dear to give to Christ and to give up for the sake of Christ.

First, the entirety of your life, your heart and then all that you have. May the sacrifice of Christ always be on your mind. May you never forget what Christ gave up for you and what He gave you when He suffered and died. May you never hesitate to give Him your best, your all, and your whole Self.

1 I gave My life for thee,
My precious blood I shed,
That thou might’st ransomed be,
And quickened from the dead;
I gave, I gave My life for thee–
What hast thou giv’n for Me?
I gave, I gave My life for thee–
What hast thou giv’n for Me?
