Arm of the Lord, Awake, Awake!

Dear Pilgrim, have you ever found yourself wondering if the Lord’s mighty power is still same as of old? Or wondering if the Lord is no longer interested in raising his victorious right arm to defend and rescue you?

Those who have longstanding prayer requests, those who are battling deadly diseases and degenerative illnesses, those confronted by mountains of debts, those held captive by evil men and corrupt systems, those engulfed by the trials of life or troubled by deteriorating relationships often wonder, saying: I have read of it, I have heard of it, indeed, I have witnessed it sometime in the past; but is that mighty power still as of old?

In Is. 51:9-10, the prophet prayed on behalf of the exiles: Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lord! Awake as in the ancient days, In the generations of old. Are You not the arm that cut Rahab apart, And wounded the serpent? Are You not the One who dried up the sea, The waters of the great deep; That made the depths of the sea a road For the redeemed to cross over?

Arm of the Lord, awake, awake!
Put on thy strength, the nations shake,
And let the world, adoring, see
Triumphs of mercy wrought by thee.

Dear pilgrim, if you are challenged, confounded, or demoralized by your current situation, do not hesitate to cry out, saying awake, awake as in the days of old, awake as in ancient days, make way for me in the desert, deliver me with your mighty arm, heal me with your soothing touch, intervene in my relationships, remove my reproach, cover my nakedness, and rebuke the work Satan and his hosts in my life.

It is not that your Lord is asleep. But He delights to show Himself strong on behalf of those who call out to Him in their troubles.

Call out to Him in your trouble, remind Him of His great works and you shall return from that place of prayer with singing; you shall shall obtain joy and gladness; Sorrow and sighing shall fly away. In Jesus name, Amen.

Arm of the Lord, awake, awake!
Put on thy strength, the nations shake,
And let the world, adoring, see
Triumphs of mercy wrought by thee.
