Lord, grant us grace to make knowing you and doing your will more important in our lives than any other thing.

Good morning and thank you for listening to the Pilgrim’s Joy Devotional.

What is your upper most desire right now? Are you looking to God to help you fulfill it? And more than that, are you certain that you are fulfilling God’s own desire in your life?

He has asked you to seek first His own kingdom and then every other thing, that is, all those other things uppermost in your heart will be added to you. Matt. 6:33

The Holy Spirit is calling you to seek a deeper relationship with God through Jesus Christ. That deeper relationship will take you to heights and mountains where you will be surprised by the visions you will see, the strength you will receive, and the warm, sweet fellowship of the Holy Spirit that will envelope you.

My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground. [Refrain]

I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught a joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground. [Refrain]

I want to scale the utmost height,
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till heav’n I’ve found,
“Lord, lead me on to higher ground.

So, dear Christian go deeper to go higher. Deeper in prayer. When you dedicate yourself to a rich prayer life, he will lift you higher to see great and mighty things that you have never known before. Jeremiah 33:3

Go deeper to go higher. Go Deeper in Bible study and you will find yourself attaining higher levels of understanding that will make you rejoice like someone who has found great treasure. Psalm 119:162.

Go deeper to go higher. Go Deeper in fighting sin. Set your minds on things above, and not things below. Colossians 3:2 and then you will find yourself seeing the so-called pleasure of sin as false, evil and destructive.

Dear pilgrim, go deeper in your relationship with God and you will find yourself planted on higher ground where doubts and fears cannot cripple you, where Satan’s arrows cannot reach you and where your vision of heaven is so bright and clear.

Let us pray.

Lord, grant us grace to make knowing you and doing your will more important in our lives than any other thing. And as we do so, lift us higher and higher to the place where we will begin to experience the beauty of heaven on earth. In Jesus name, Amen!
