Once Jesus Remains the Foundation, Let the Times Bring Whatever They Might…

In Matt. 6:32, Jesus taught us not to be anxious about the times of our lives, because our heavenly Father knows about our needs and circumstances even before we ask. Instead, the Lord counselled us to first seek the kingdom of God. Every other thing will then be added to us by the God who knows us and understands our circumstances more than we do.

Brothers and sisters, it may not readily appear so, but the Christian’s first port of call in all times and seasons of life is to take the 2 Cor. 13: 5 test: examine whether He or she is in Christ Jesus; whether He or she is firmly anchored to the Rock that is Jesus Christ; whether He or she is in the will of Christ.

Once that is the case, once Jesus remains the foundation, let the times and seasons bring whatever they might, the God who owns the earth and all its fullness (psalm 24) will add and supply all that is needed to confront and overcome and prevail and thrive in whatever times and seasons we find ourselves. Phil. 4:19.

Yes, this rock is Jesus. Examine whether you are in Him and He in you and whether you are walking according to His will and then you will find that in His name, you have access to the presence of the God who owns the earth and all its fullness, the God who directs the hearts and minds of kings and princes. Prov.21.

Examine whether you are in Him and you will find that He was before ALL things and in Him ALL things hold together. Col. 1:17.

Yes, the rock is Jesus: confess, worship and abide in Him to whom all authority on earth and in heaven has been given and you will find that, at the mention of His name every knee will bow, whether of things in heaven or on earth or underneath the earth. Phil. 2:10.

This is why the Holy Spirit reminds you this morning of the ONE ANSWER to all the times and seasons of our lives: Jesus Christ.

Are you just opening a new chapter and you’re wondering whether you’ve made the right decision? Or have you been on the same spot for far too long and wondering when your prayers will be answered? Are you lonely? Are you sad? Are you in dire need? Or have your prayers been answered and you’re anxious that the blessings be made permanent?

In times like the ones you are passing through, the One Answer to all your questions and anxieties is JESUS CHRIST. Examine yourself whether you are anchored to Him, whether you have placed your faith in Him as Lord and Saviour, and whether you are walking in His will. Once that is the case, take this to the bank: the wisdom, the guidance, the strength, the favours, the provision, the healing, the intervention, the comfort and the sustenance you need to confront and thrive in times such as these will be given to you.

That’s Matt. 6:33 and, yes, you can take it to the bank.

Let us pray.

Lord, this morning as with all the times and seasons of our lives, we confess that we need You to be the Lord and ruler of our lives. Please keep us firmly anchored in You. Keep us in Your will and then grant us the calm assurance that every other thing we need for the different times and seasons of life will be added to us. We ask in faith and in the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
