What Can a Sinner Expect to Meet at Home?

If you asked me that question, I’d begin by saying, well it depends on whether that sinner is weary and tired of sin and ready to give it up.

The sinner who is not weary of sin, who takes Joy and pleasure in it, who does not sorrow for his sin will meet at home a holy God who will say, “Away from me, you worker of iniquity!”

But the sinner who is weary of sin will meet, standing at the street gate, a holy but merciful Father, saying, “come home”

Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling

Calling for you and for me

See on the portals He’s waiting and watching

Watching for you and for me.

Come home, come home

Ye who are weary come home

Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling

Calling, “O sinner come home

Will L. Thompson

Are you weary of sin? Are painfully aware that your sins are  not pleasures but oppression? Are you daily grieving for your body’s helplessness against besetting sin? Are you still bearing the weight and burden of the guilt of your sin?

Then come home.

At home, “though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”

At home, though you think you deserve not more than being a servant, you will hear the Father say, “Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.”

And the way home is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. No one  will be made as white as snow nor made as wool; nor given a new robe nor given the ring of Sonship who has not come to the Father through Jesus Christ our Lord Jesus Christ who said “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest “

Whether you’re reconciling with the Father  for the first time or whether your fellowship with Him was broken by sin, you will do well to listen to the One who is the truth, the way and the life saying:

Come home, come home

Ye who are weary come home

Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling

Calling, “O sinner come home.
