At the beginning of every new month, many of us pause to take stock—of the year so far, our progress, and our hopes. Psalm 37 offers us not vague encouragement, but six clear, actionable verbs that can shape our faith walk this month: **Trust, Dwell, Delight, Commit, Trust (again), and Rest.**
1. Trust in the Lord — and Do Good
Trusting God is the foundation of righteous living. The more you rely on Him to order your steps, the easier it is to resist evil and to consistently choose good. *“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”* (Proverbs 3:5–6)
This month, let trust fuel your obedience.
2. Dwell in the Land
To dwell is to stay, to remain. God’s call is not to occasional allegiance but to daily, steady faithfulness. *“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.”* (John 15:4)
Choose to remain on the Lord’s side, even when it is hard.
3. Delight in the Lord
When God becomes our deepest joy, His desires become our desires. True delight in Him reshapes our ambitions and longings. *“Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.”* (Psalm 73:25)
This month, make worship, prayer, and fellowship your delight, not your duty.
4. Commit Your Way to the Lord
Committing means handing over—not clinging to control. When we roll our plans, fears, and future into God’s hands, we find peace. *“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”* (Psalm 55:22)
Lay your path before Him and walk with confidence.
5. Keep Trusting in the Lord
Notice that the psalmist repeats this verb: trust. It’s not a one-time action, but a daily discipline. Faith is strengthened in repetition. *“We walk by faith, not by sight.”* (2 Corinthians 5:7)
Trust Him today, tomorrow, and again when doubts come.
6. Rest in the Lord
Rest is not inactivity but surrender. It is waiting without anxiety, confident that God is at work even when we cannot see it. *“Be still, and know that I am God.”* (Psalm 46:10)
This month, let His peace guard your heart and mind (Philippians 4:6–7).
