“Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, ‘Why are we sitting here until we die?’” – 2 Kings 7:3 (NKJV)
Dear reader, though this little book is mainly for the encouragement of believers, if you are still unsaved, my heart longs for you, and I must speak a word that may be blessed to you. Open your Bible and read the story of the lepers, and notice their situation—it is much like yours. If you remain where you are, you will perish; but if you go to Jesus, you can only die. As the old saying goes, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.” In your case, the risk is small.
If you sit still in stubborn despair, no one will pity you when ruin comes. But if you die seeking mercy—even if such a thing were possible—you would at least be the object of sympathy. None escape who refuse to look to Jesus; but you know that some are saved who believe in Him. You’ve seen acquaintances receive mercy—so why not you? The Ninevites said, “Who can tell?” Act on that same hope, and test the Lord’s mercy.
To perish is so dreadful that if there were only a straw to grasp, instinct should drive you to reach for it. But we speak now not on uncertain ground, but with assurance from the Lord: if you seek Him, you will find Him. Jesus never casts out those who come to Him. You will not perish if you trust Him; instead, you will find treasure far richer than the lepers discovered in Syria’s abandoned camp.
May the Holy Spirit give you courage to go to Christ at once—you will not believe in vain. And when you are saved, share the good news with others. Do not keep silent. Tell the King’s household first, join them in fellowship, let the minister know of your discovery, and then proclaim the good news everywhere.
May the Lord save you before the sun sets today.
