“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” 

It is a deeply comforting way to quiet sorrow when we can truly say, “He cares for me.”Christian, do not dishonour your faith by constantly wearing a face weighed down with anxiety. Come—place your burden on your Lord. You are struggling under a load that your heavenly Father would scarcely feel. What seems to you like a crushing weight would be to Him no more than dust on a scale.

There is nothing sweeter than to “Lie quietly in God’s hands, / And desire no will but His.”Child of suffering, be patient. God has not overlooked you in His providence. He who feeds the sparrows will surely provide what you need. Do not sit down in despair—hope on, and keep hoping. Take up the shield of faith against the waves of trouble, and your resistance will yet bring your distress to an end.

There is One who cares for you. His eye is fixed upon you, His heart is moved with compassion for your pain, and His almighty hand will surely bring you the help you need. The darkest cloud will break into showers of mercy. The deepest night will give way to morning light. If you belong to His household, He will bind up your wounds and heal your broken heart.

Do not doubt His grace because of your trials. Believe instead that He loves you just as deeply in seasons of trouble as in times of joy. How calm and peaceful your life could be if you would leave provision in the hands of the God of providence. With only a little oil in the jar and a handful of meal in the barrel, Elijah survived the famine—and you will too.

If God truly cares for you, why should you carry the burden alone? Can you trust Him with your soul, yet not with your body and daily needs? He has never refused to bear your burdens, and He has never grown weary beneath their weight.

Come then, dear soul—put an end to anxious fretting, and place all your concerns into the hands of a gracious and faithful God.
